Bulgaria will face Portugal in the opening game of the 2019 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship
The official draw for the 2019 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship was held in the "Flamingo Grand" Hotel in Albena. The member of the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union Mr. Emil Kostadinov himself picked the eight teams that will challenge for the title between May 5th and May 17th. The Bulgarian lionesses will face Denmark, Spain and Portugal in Group A, while Group B consists of Austria, Germany, England and The Netherlands. The opening game of the tournament will see Bulgaria face Portugal.
"I am extremely honoured by the fact that Bulgaria will be hosting a major tournament for the second time in the last few years. The development of women's football is one of our main priorities and I am certain that this championship will help to raise the popularity of the sport among young women. I would like to thank UEFA for trusting us with EURO 2019; I would also like to acknowledge the great support from the local municipalities of Dobrich, Kavarna, Balchik and our hosts from Albena", said Emil Kostadinov.
Ms. Laura McAllister, member of the UEFA Women's Football Committee, greeted the guests of the stylish ceremony and the hostess Slavena Vatova, in Bulgarian - and also mentioned the perfect organization of the U-17 European Championship in 2015.
